Easter 101: Dress to Impress

Whether you’re heading to church, meeting your in-laws for the first time, or just attending an annual family gathering, Easter is a time of celebration and togetherness for many families. You'll want to dress to impress by incorporating the colors of spring in your look. Here are some tips to help you make a great impression for formal and informal gatherings.

  1. Since pastels are easy to match, you can combine a few together without overdoing it. Unlike bold, saturated colors, you can play up the color combinations and still look conservative if necessary. From sky blue to mint green, pastels can be versatile and masculine. Consider pairing Turtle and Hare from Squiddledee Ties with a complementary pastel shirt and blazer for church, then remove the blazer for lunch or other activities.
  2. You can never go wrong with a pair of khakis and a dress shirt for a semiformal gathering like brunch. Add a Squiddledee Tie like Butterfly or Bluebird of Happiness to take it up a notch. Choose the tie that best matches your personality for individual expression.
  3. For a more casual affair, choose a polo shirt and khakis. If you're going to be hunting for eggs, you can even pull off a pair of jeans or shorts. Remember, even if the event is casual, you still want to look put together, so consider pairing long pink shorts with a pastel button down. If the weather is still chilly, you can layer with a lightweight sweater.
  4. If your plans involve formal attire, wear a lightweight suit in a neutral color and bring in some of the pastels to your shirt and tie. If you are a sports enthusiast, consider something from the Sporting Gent collection like golf or baseball to add interest to your look.

Before you plan your outfit, be sure you know your plans for the day. Find out in advance where you will be going and what the dress code will be. From there, you can start to think about how to pull off your best look. If you keep it classy, you will never go wrong.
