The World Series of Ties

Every Fall, baseball fans everywhere come together to watch the annual championship series of Major League Baseball known as the World Series. The American League champion team and the National League champion team conduct a championship series prior to the World Series to determine which teams advance. The winner of the World Series is determined through a playoff consisting of seven games. The Commissioner's Trophy is awarded to the winning team.

As of 2015, the American League has won the majority of the World Series games played, with the New York Yankees earning the most consecutive wins. The Saint Louis Cardinals have scored the most National League victories. The last World Series was played by the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals. The Royals took the trophy after Game 5 in New York when a tied score went into extra innings.

According to the latest Gallup poll, nearly half of Americans are baseball fans. Although baseball trails football as the top sport in the United States, it is still considered America's favorite pastime. Along with following their favorite teams to playoffs, Americans enjoy the experience of going to a baseball game. There is a universal appreciation for the singing of the National Anthem, the aroma in the air, and the camaraderie of fans cheering for their favorite team.
